Different manufacturers produce different grades of graphite with different losses, and different machined surfaces, and even require different machine setups. This often occurs in molds from different suppliers. All molds are unlikely to have the same EDM surface unless a certain grade of graphite is used. Graphite scraper film dryer is used for salting out (crystallization) drying of the salt solution. Its working principle is that the turntable installed on the rotating shaft rotates at high speed, throwing the salt solution entering the machine to the inner wall of the graphite cylinder, and the steam in the outer jacket of the graphite cylinder passes through the cylinder wall to transport the liquid flowing down the inner wall in a film shape. Heating the film evaporates the water in it and precipitates crystals. The crystal is scraped off and exported by the scraper coaxial with the turntable. During operation, the solution is not polluted and is not easy to scale.

Why graphite is suitable for heat transfer

1. Lubricity: The lubricity of graphite depends on the size of the graphite flakes. The larger the flake, the smaller the coefficient of friction and the better the lubrication performance.

2. Chemical stability: Graphite has excellent chemical stability at room temperature and is resistant to acids, alkalis, and solvents.

3. Plasticity: Graphite has good toughness and can be made into very thin sheets.

4. Thermal shock resistance: When graphite is used at room temperature, it can withstand drastic changes in temperature without damage. When the temperature changes suddenly, the volume of graphite does not change much, and no cracks will occur.

5. High-temperature resistant type: the melting point of graphite is 3850±50°C, and the boiling point is 4250°C. Even if it is burned by a high-temperature arc, the weight loss is very small, and the coefficient of thermal expansion is also very small. The strength of graphite increases with the increase in temperature, and at 2000°C, the strength of graphite doubles.

6. Electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity: The conductivity of graphite is one hundred times that of ordinary non-metallic minerals. Thermal conductivity exceeds that of metal materials such as steel, iron, and lead. Thermal conductivity decreases with increasing temperature, making graphite an insulator even at low temperatures.

Carbon and graphite materials have small thermal expansion coefficients and good resistance to rapid cooling and rapid heating, so they can be used as casting molds for glassware and casting molds for ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, or rare metals. Some specially treated graphite, such as graphite surface infiltrated with high-temperature resistant materials, recrystallized graphite, pyrolytic graphite, etc., have better high-temperature stability and higher strength-to-weight ratio. As such, they are used in the manufacture of nose cones for solid-fuel rocket nozzles and components for aerospace equipment.
